NEURO LINGUSTIC PROGRAMMING
NLP is an approach to our human behaviour, the way in which we view the world, the people we meet and how we react to them. Our language, our behaviour and the way we communicate.
Founded in the ’70′s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder NLP is their results of studying outstanding people in different walks of society both personally and professionally and identifying their thought patterns and behaviours. They also studied the works of therapists like Milton Erickson (one of the most remarkable Hypnotherapist ever) and family therapist Virginia Satir to name just two.
When Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied these successful people, they asked “can we determine what process is inside these people’s brains, that give these people such great success and can we teach the same process to other people” The answer was YES.
Unlike most people of their day, they asked questions of excellence, positive questions. NLP was created on WHAT WORKS for people in their lives not what does not work.
To give you an example – Man A has a glass of water and to him it looks like it is half empty, whereas Man B has a glass of water, which to him looks like it is half full. Who do you think is the most successful of the two?
Man B – Why? Because he can see the overall picture of the glass and the amount of water in it. It is his attitude. And to be honest Man A can behave the same way, just by altering his mind set.
To sum up -
Neuro – Our nervous system, a humans ability to take in information and translate it in our brains using our five senses.
Linguistic – Our communication to others, both verbal and non-verbal.
Programming – Everyone is familiar with this term nowadays. How we can programme a computer to do what we want. Translate that to our brain system and we can programme our brains to get the best for us out of our lives.
NLP teaches us how use our senses and in what order. How to create rapport with others, build positive relationships. Create in our lives what we think in a Good and Positive way.
Who views their glass half empty now?
